The growth patterns of uterine fibroids can be slow, rapidly or just remain the same size. Some grow in spurts and some may shrink on their own. Fibroids usually develop during pregnancy, shrink or just disappear after when the uterus goes back to its normal size.

Uterine fibroids are not usually dangerous but can cause severe discomfort and can result to complications such as anemia from heavy loss of blood.

Symptoms of uterine fibroids

  • Excessive bleeding during menstruation
  • A sensation of fullness or pressure in the area of the abdomen
  • Excessive cramping during menstruation
  • Prolonged menstruation such as 7 days or more of bleeding
  • Frequent urge to urinate
  • Low back pain and leg pain
  • Constipation
  • Difficulty in emptying the bladder

Causes

  • Changes in genes that differ from normal uterine muscle cells. It can be inherited and identical twins are more susceptible to develop uterine fibroids than non-identical twins.
  • Estrogen and progesterone are hormones that stimulate the development of the lining of the uterus during menstrual cycle can also cause uterine fibroids.
  • Growth factors that helps maintain tissues like insulin-growth factors can cause development of fibroids.

Treatment

  • Apply a castor oil pack on the abdomen to help in stimulating the circulatory and lymphatic systems and also increases the lymphocytes which are the disease fighting cells responsible for eliminating the toxins that causes disease. Castor oil has anti-inflammatory property that helps lessen the pain and shrink the fibroids. Soak a wool flannel in castor oil and then place it on the abdomen and cover it using a plastic wrap. Place a hot water bottle or a heating pad on it and cover it using a towel. Leave it on for at least one hour and remove. Perform this procedure at least three to four times a week for one month until there is an improvement. Avoid using this procedure during menstruation or trying to become pregnant.
  • Drink 2-3 cups of green tea or an alternative is to take 400 mg of green tea capsules every day for several months.
  • Mix 1-2 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses in 3-quarter cup of warm milk and drink the solution at least 1-2 times every day or for several months. Blackstrap molasses works by shrinking the uterine fibroids as well as rich in iron and other nutrients.
  • In a glass of water, add a teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar and a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses can be added. Drink this solution regularly. Apple cider vinegar helps lessen the symptoms of uterine fibroids and eliminates toxins from the body.
